Mars Area School District Awarded U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon

With the launch of our brand new single family community Hickory Glen, located in the Mars area school district, Weaver Homes is happy to announce that the Mars Area High School has been awarded a Blue Ribbon by the U.S. Deparment of Education making the 2019 national list of high-achieving schools!

Schools that win a Blue Ribbon are recognized for their “overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups,” according to the U.S. Department of Education. Over 9,000 school have won the honor since the program began in 1982.

The high school was specifically recognized for its academic levels achieved through state and national testing and nominated by the PA Department of Education based on the student achievement numbers. In 2018, the high school had a 98.8 percent graduation rate with 82.2 percent of graduates enrolling in post-secondary institutions, 6.1 percent enlisting in the military and 9.3 percent entering Pennsylvania’s workforce.

There are many people who contributed to the achievement, including teachers, students, administration, the board of education and parents. The award is based on achievement which is directly associated to teaching and learning. The school will be presented with a plaque and flag at a special ceremony in Washington, D.C. at a later date.

Situated on 60 majestic and secluded acres in the Mars School District, Hickory Glen is Adams Township’s premiere single-family home community. At Weaver Homes we want to build neighborhoods that are lifelong cornerstones to a township. We want families to have the room to grow and actually be able to enjoy their property without being “on-top” of their neighbors. The  Weaver Homes leadership team is proud to offer 40 incredibly spacious homesites. These select 40 properties, shown in the map below, will offer: half, three-quarter and one acre+ homesites, minutes from the Mars Area school campus and Adams Township community park.

Congratulations to Mars School District and the many families, students, administration and teachers that made this possible!
